Six Highlights of the Tax Function in 2008: KPMG Tax Department Survey
KPMG has released the results of its 2008 tax department survey in a report that highlights the potential effects of regulatory changes on organizations, their corporate tax functions, and how they manage their people, processes, technology, and risks. This year's survey polled not only tax executives but also CFOs, controllers, internal audit executives, and board members.
The report looks at a number of key questions in light of recent regulatory changes, including:
- How can tax departments be structured, and how are they prioritizing their day-to-day activities?
- How has FIN 48 changed tax department activities?
- What is the tax department's role in managing tax risk?
- How are tax departments utilizing their resources, and how may their budgets be affected by regulatory and marketplace changes?
- What issues related to people, processes, and technology may be having an impact on the reporting process for tax departments?
- What improvement projects may be taking place in corporate tax departments, and how may those initiatives relate to other business process improvement projects being pursued by companies?
